Jessica Hernández (Germany)

Jessica Hernández obtained her B.A Area Studies for Asia and Africa in 2008 at the Humboldt University in Berlin and speaks English, French, Spanish, Northern Sotho and some Hindi. While completing her M.A. in Contemporary South- and Southeastasian Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin, she works part-time at contec GmbH and IEGUS European Institute for Healthcare Research and Social Economy since October 2012. Her interest lies within the migration projects in cooperation with South- and Southeastasian countries of the IEGUS institute, questions of the demographic development in Europe and Asia as well as other urgent topics of Public Health. Within the EU project she is now responsible for the coordination and the organization of generated data and information flow.

Juliane Birkenstock (Germany)

Juliane Birkenstock (2)Juliane Birkenstock is educationist in healthcare and nursing (M.A.). Her scientific and practical approach is focused on the social and psychological fundament of healthcare. In her work for “Bildungsnetzwerk Gesundheits- und Pflegeberufe” (educational network for healthcare and nursing professions) she worked on the improvement of curricula. Since 2005 she is active for ZAB GmbH (Central Academy for Professions in Healthcare) as a teacher in the different German healthcare professions education, in the support of students in their theoretical and practical tuition units and as a trainer of didactics.

Jacqueline Filkins (UK)

Jacqueline Filkins (2)Prof. Filkins is a Europe-wide and internationally designated expert in nursing and nurse education. She is a founding member of ENDA European Nurse Directors Association and remains its Honorary Chairman. Until recently, Prof. Filkins was a Board member of the Cumbria Partnership NHS FT. She is also part of the project RN4CAST EU Research project of the University Leuven, Belgium. Prof. Filkins was a member of several European project teams, occupied with questions of employment and professional education of nursing professionals. Transcultural issues and questions of international mobility of workforces have always been included in her work. Her duties in the scope of the current project are the support of the development of a pilot network, contribution of the relevant professional know-how regarding quality standards of education. The expertise of Prof. Filkins will finally be necessary when recommendations for the education and regulation of the project’s focus group have to be made.

Uwe K. Preusker (Finland, Germany)

Uwe PreuskerDr. Preusker studied economics, financial and political science at Cologne University until 1976. Two years later he received his doctor’s degree in eco-nomics. From 1977 to 1998 he was active as journalist, adviser and lobbyist in the field of health care in Germany, e.g. as manager of the German Associa-tion of hospital Physicians (Marburger Bund). Since 1998 he is member of the board and the owner of “Preusker Health Care OY” in Vantaa/Finland. The special areas of his company are:

  •  health and social care consulting and management in and between Northern Europe and Germany
  • advisor in investment possibilities in health care markets
  •  publishing about health care in Europe

In between 2000 and 2005 he was member of the board of the hip-replacement hospital COXA OY in Tampere. Since 2005 Uwe Preusker is chief editor of “Klinik Markt inside”, a specialized newsletter about hospital market and health policy.

Gertrud Stöcker (Germany)

Gertrud Stöcker is substitutional president of DBfK (German Association for Professionals in the Field of Nursing). She is also a professional nurse and teacher in nursing. In between 1974 and 1994 she was active in the education of nurses, also in leading positions. From 1986 to 2002 Ms. Stöcker was member of the Advising Committee of the European Commission for the education of professional nurses regarding their employment in hospitals. In 2002 she was an EU assessor in the scope of Peer-Reviews for the revision of educational standards in nursing profession in different EU-member States. In relation to her work she had to visit Bulgaria, Moldova, Czech Republic and Hungary and contributed in numerous advisory boards and projects, published on issues of education of nurse professionals, Europeanization of nursing and on questions of the positioning of nursing in regard to social security for health and care or the development of quality standards of the public health provision.

Ludmila Waszkiewicz (Poland)

Since 1978 Prof. Waszkiewicz is active at the medical University of Wroclaw and researching intensively on subjects of health economical matters, social medicine and health politics, education of medical professionals and nurses in Poland and Europe. Since 1999 she is also leading the departments of Social Security Law and Health care Management in postgraduate studies at the University of Wroclaw. Apart of that she is the president of the Polish Society of Social Medicine and Public Health of the section Lower Silesia, since 1996.
