Teresa Moreno-Casbas (Spain)

Teresa Moreno Casbas (2)Dr. Moreno-Casbas, RN MSc PhD FEAN, had a formal education in nursing at the University of Valladolid in 1981. She obtained a Maîtrise in Sciences by the University of Montreal Canada (1991-1993) and obtained her Maîtrise and her PhD in Epidemiology and Community Health in 2005 and 2007 re-spectively at the University Rey Juan Carlos. Her post-doctoral work at the University of Toronto focused on health care policy and services, promoting safe care for nurses and patients.

Dr. Moreno-Casbas is a member of the European Academy of Nursing Sci-ence. She recently held the position as a chair in Health Services and Policy Research. Since 1996, she is the nursing executive officer of the Spanish Nursing and Healthcare Re-search Unit (Investén-isciii). This unit is located in the Institute of Health Carlos III, which belongs to the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN). Since 1996, this unit has strategically sought to improve research in nursing in Spain and now the effort is focused on the implementation of nursing research findings. Dr. Moreno-Casbas’ programme of research focuses on four objectives: (a) Measurement of nursing process and nursing staffing characteristics and the impact of nursing on patient outcomes, (b) Enhancing evidence-based practice and knowledge transfer in nursing clinical practice and factors influencing knowledge translation, (c) Aging and fragility and (d) Clinical patient safety. She has been WP leader in the European project Nurse Forecasting in Europe (RN4CAST).Call: FP7-HEALTH-2007-B, Proposal number 223468.
